How can we have a personal relationship with God? We were brought up to believe that God is judgment. But perhaps there are standards of relationship that can be applied. Respect, and communication, are a start, for example. God knows everything about you anyway. Even the stuff we keep to ourselves and never reveal to anyone else.
I would like to talk to God, but not like when I am talking to my best friend. I would like to talk to God beyond that. Like a best friend who I don’t hold anything back with. Who I share everything with Him. No secrets. Because what is the point? He knows them already — so might as well. But it’s tough. So maybe I could start by talking to him as my best friend and build from there. Start one step at a time.
I pray that God shows me how to talk Him. Because I frankly don’t know how.
